No, FPL is a laboratory (conformity assessment body) accredited under ISO/IEC 17025:2017 which will carry out tests to verify the compliance of a product based on the acceptance criteria of a standard. For a product to be certified, it needs to undergo an evaluation process with a certification body accredited under ISO/IEC 17065:2012.
Accreditation. It is the independent assessment of conformity assessment bodies against recognized standards to carry out specific activities to ensure their impartiality and competence. Through the application of national and international standards, the government, buyers and consumers can trust the test and calibration results, inspection reports and certifications provided.
Certification. It is the process carried out by an entity recognized as independent from the interested parties, through which the conformity of a certain company, product, process, service or person with the requirements defined in standards or technical specifications is manifested.
In Mexico, it is the Mexican Accreditation Entity (ema) which belongs to the International Organization for Accreditation Bodies (ILAC) which in turn regulates accreditation bodies that operate in accordance with ISO/IEC 17011 and are involved in accreditation from conformity assessment bodies, including calibration laboratories (using ISO/IEC 17025), testing laboratories (using ISO/IEC 17025), medical testing laboratories (using ISO 15189), inspection bodies (using ISO/ IEC 17020), proficiency testing providers (using ISO/IEC 17043), and reference material producers (using ISO 17034).
